About the initiative

Supplier due diligence

We have developed a Third-Party Risk Management Program to identify, assess, and manage the risks posed by relationships with third parties regarding information security, business continuity, data privacy, the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing, the prevention of corruption, and financial solvency.
Before entering into a business relationship, companies undergo a due diligence process in which they are evaluated by specialists.
Suppliers must answer several questions and provide information about their structure and the services they will offer. Based on their responses, specialized teams assess, qualify, and classify the risk associated with contracting the third party and determine the mitigation measures that must be implemented.

Meli Code+

We have a Code of Ethics for Suppliers and Business Partners, which applies to all suppliers of goods and services and business partners of MercadoLibre, Inc. as well as all its subsidiaries and affiliates, including contractors, subcontractors, agents, and representatives.
This is an ethical framework with specific, clear, and transparent guidelines that align with our purpose and cover the entire value chain. Compliance with the MELI Code+ is a prerequisite for the selection, hiring, and retention of our suppliers, as well as the execution of any type of business deal or partnership.
Among these are a commitment to respecting freedom of association and collective bargaining, and the prohibition of forced or involuntary labor and any form of modern slavery. Additionally, it requires compliance with the minimum working ages established by local regulations, prior verification of the age of all workers, and the guarantee that employment is always voluntary.

Contractual Clauses

When entering into business relationships with Mercado Livre, all suppliers and partners must sign the MELI Code+. We have also established rules regarding privacy, liability, and intellectual property for those using artificial intelligence. These clauses set forth clear obligations regarding ethical and safe use, as well as compliance with our data protection standards.
